David Oliva is a self-taught painter, who started to experiment with oils in 2006. Within a short space of time, he has produced some very sought after work, and has exhibited extensively in Gibraltar and South Spain. His work is now in homes in Spain, South America, Gibraltar and the UK.
His style which is continuously developing provides a classic yet refreshing feel to his art, which include landscapes, still-life and more recently portraits. The combination of confidence, audacity and colours, particularly blue, together with his strong criticism of current "mainstream abstract work", make his work stimulating but also subject of discussion and controversy at times.
Elements of Impressionist art are clearly evident in David's work, although his ''freestyling" raw technique has a life of its own.
